Episode 16 - Dadron begins her Tibetan language class

Tashi delek, this is Phillipa. Talk Tibetan Podcast 16. Today we’ll put together some of the vocabulary we have learnt so far. Dorjee will be greeting the Tibetan language teacher Dadron. Dorjee and Dadron will have a short conversation first with the English phrase and then the phrase spoken in Tibetan.

After this they will repeat the conversation only in Tibetan.

Dorjee: Good evening, (teacher) Dadron:
Gen Dadron:-la, gongtoe delek

Dadron: Good evening Dorjee:.
Gongtoe delek Dorjee:-la.

Dorjee: How are you?

Dadron: I’ll well thank you
La yin, tho che na

Dorjee: Sit down
Mar shug
Dadron: Thank you
Tho che na
Dorjee: Would you like tea
So cha choe ki yin pay

Dorjee: We have 8 students who want to learn Tibetan language.
Gen-la, ngatso Bho-kay jangdhoe yo pay lobtruk gey yo.

Dadron: Oh! very good, could you kindly introduce me to them?
Ah lay, yakpo shaydak ray, khey ki nga la khongnam ngotro nang rok nang gay?

Dorjee: Of course, could I give you their name list later?
La, yin-da-yin, ngey khongtsoy mingtho jela phulna dik ki ray pay?

Dadron: That’s fine.
Dik ki ray.
Dorjee: What time is it?
Chotsoe gatse ray
Dadron: It’s 7pm
Chotsoe dunpa ray
